August reader: Lisa Simeone

Lisa Simeone has been working in public radio, local and national, for 30 years. She has hosted Weekend All Things Considered, Weekend Edition Sunday, Performance Today, World of Opera, Soundprint, and countless live specials. After being blacklisted by NPR in October 2011 for her political activities, she managed to hang onto two radio gigs. She still writes for Style magazine, which is unperturbed by her ongoing political activism. She has written for the Urbanite and City Paper and for several years wrote book reviews and op-eds for the Baltimore Sun (until they stopped paying freelancers). She also writes for and edits TSA News. She’s a 1980 graduate of St. John’s College in Annapolis and received her M.A. from the The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins in 1997. She lives in Charles Village.
